Moon over Cascade

March 20, 2011

This morning I awoke to clear skies , after being so disappointed last evening having to watch huge snow flakes cover the ground. Word was out, the largest and brightest Moon we have seen in the last 20 years , and here in Montana it was snowing! I woke up pretty early, there was an unusual light penetrating the curtains into my bedroom, and then I remembered that light just may be the Moon. I made coffee, grabbed my camera, loaded the dog, and in my slippers and sleeping garb headed out the door.

I knew the Moon would not be up much longer, so I was rushing to get in a good position for a good photo. My windshield was iced, but I drove out of the driveway thinking  I could see well enough anyway. I had to stop and scrape, time was running out, I had to make a decision on where to try to  set up, there was maybe 10 minutes to go before the Moon was gone behind the Butte.

It was pretty cool out to be in slippers and a vest and sweat pants, but I did manage to get a few shots….

Hope you enjoy!
